Lots of guys wonder how safe it is to give a guy a blowjob. Many of us know there is a risk in sucking cock, but how big a risk is it?
It is possible to get HIV when you suck cock and a small number of men believe they were infected with HIV through sucking. There are no reported cases of a guy getting HIV when someone sucked his dick. Usually, if someone gets HIV through sucking it's because of the condition of their mouth or throat. Gum disease, recent dental work, sores in the mouth, or a sexually transmitted disease, such as herpes in the mouth or gonorrhea in the throat, can increase the risk for HIV through oral sex.
You can suck cock and avoid HIV. There are many things you can do to make sucking safer.
Get regular check-ups for sexually transmitted diseases with a doctor, or at a clinic, where you are comfortable being open about the kind of sex you have with guys. If you give guys blowjobs, your check-up should include a swab of your throat.
Some guys use a latex condom when they give a guy a blowjob. Latex condoms can protect you from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Use a dry, unlubricated condom or a flavored condom, both of which will taste better than regular lubricated condoms. If you get sucked with a condom, it can take longer to cum. It's a common, initial reaction. Enjoy it.
Avoid cum in your mouth. Ask the guy your sucking to let you know when he's about to cum so you can stop sucking and jerk him off. If you take cum in your mouth it is better to spit it out, or swallow it, right away.
Avoid deep throating, or letting the guy stick his dick far down your throat. The back of the throat is more open to infections like gonorrhea.
Fondle and his balls, while avoiding sticking the head of his dick in your mouth.
Be aware of the condition of your mouth and throat. If you notice sores in your mouth, if you have a cold sore, or a sore throat, you might want to be more cautious and take additional steps to protect yourself.
Avoid brushing or flossing your teeth, or eating abrasive foods like nuts or hard candies, a few hours before and after you have oral sex. If you have had recent dental work, have recently bit your lip or the inside of your mouth, or have gum disease or inflammation of the gums, you can take extra precautions to protect yourself, such as using a condom when you suck.
Some guys enjoy group sex, or sucking several guys in an evening. Each time you suck someone, especially if you are taking their dick far down your throat, you can irritate the lining of the mouth and throat. Repeated sucking over several hours can mean your mouth or throat may be more open to infection. If you are sucking for several hours, you might want to be more cautious as your sex session progresses.
Try to make it a habit to take a piss right after someone sucks you off. This can flush bacteria out of your dick and help you to avoid sexually transmitted infections. If you are sucking guys off, it's a good idea to rinse your mouth out with salt water and wash your face afterwards. It's also a good idea to wash your dick and balls with soap and water after getting sucked or any sex play that involves your dick and balls.
If you like going down on women, know that the risk is also low. You can reduce your risk by avoiding going down on women during their period, and by following many of the steps covered here on oral sex on guys. Be aware of the condition of your mouth and get regular check ups for sexually transmitted infections. Remember that many sexually transmitted infections that are just a nuisance for you can cause a woman serious health problems.
Some guys like rimming, or licking ass. There are no reports of anyone ever getting HIV from licking someone's ass, or getting their ass licked. But, many men have caught Hepatitis A and sometimes Hepatitis B from ass licking. Or, they have become infected with intestinal parasites. Both kinds of infections can be serious.
You can enjoy rimming and reduce your risk for Hepatitis and parasites.
Get vaccinated. There is a free vaccine available for Hepatitis B, and there is also a vaccine for Hepatitis A, which you will have to pay for. If you are vaccinated then you cannot catch Hepatitis A or B.
Make sure that his ass is clean before you lick it. Take a shower together and wash his ass, including inside his asshole if you like to stick your tongue in his ass when you rim.
Always wash your hands after butt play and after handling used condoms. You should wash your hands before you place them near your face.
You can also use a latex barrier over his ass by cutting an unlubricated condom into a square and placing it over his ass before you lick it.
